A serendipitous shower

A lucky shot on a rainy evening in town

I took this reference photo, and others, as a basis for a future painting, while sharing cake in the warm and dry with a special person.

The inspiration came from the blue umbrella, the blue light, the halo of the streetlights, and (out of frame of this shot) some lovely building façades.

However, when I reviewed this shot, I was delighted with the couple on the left-hand side of the street, specifically the serendipitously uplifted central foot, that suggested an effortless dance, “singing in the rain”, or a three-legged race at sports day.

The three-legged hound is cute too.
